Tadım: roasted nuts and seeds from Türkiye
Tadım is a Turkish family company, founded in 1971 by Mehmet Tekinalp. Its story began in Gaziantep, the south-eastern city famous for its pistachios, and the business is now run by the third generation of the Tekinalp family.
Tadım roasts and packs sunflower and pumpkin seeds, chickpeas, peanuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios and hazelnuts, and makes flavoured roasted corn and dried fruit. Its factories are in Gaziantep, Kırıkkale and Gebze, with a fourth in Emsdetten, Germany, since 2015, and its packs are sold in more than 30 countries.
In Türkiye, a bag of çekirdek (salted sunflower seeds, cracked one by one) goes with football, films, the latest dizi (Turkish TV series) and long chats over tea. We stock Tadım’s roasted and natural nuts and seeds, from 75g snack packs to 270g bags of sunflower seeds, at the same prices online as in our shop in Harold Hill.
Tadım nuts and seeds: your questions
What is Tadım?
Tadım is a Turkish family company that roasts and packs nuts, seeds and snacks. It was founded in 1971 by Mehmet Tekinalp, its story began in Gaziantep, and it is now run by the third generation of the Tekinalp family. Its packs are sold in more than 30 countries.
How do you eat Turkish sunflower seeds (çekirdek)?
Crack each seed open between your front teeth, eat the kernel inside and put the shell aside. Keep a small bowl for the shells. In Türkiye a bag of çekirdek is the classic snack for football, films and long chats over tea. Tadım’s come roasted and salted, extra salted, unsalted and taco flavoured.
What are the best Turkish snacks for a match or series night?
Sunflower seeds (çekirdek) are the classic: in Türkiye they come out for every football match and every episode of the latest dizi, the Turkish TV series. Add a bowl of leblebi (roasted chickpeas), roasted and salted pistachios or the festival mixed nuts, and Tadım’s cheddar or sea salt roasted corn for something crunchier.
What are double roasted yellow chickpeas (leblebi)?
Leblebi are roasted chickpeas, a crunchy snack eaten across Türkiye. Yellow leblebi are roasted a second time, which gives them their golden colour and a firmer crunch. We also stock Tadım’s roasted and salted white chickpeas.
Are Tadım nuts roasted or raw?
Both. The roasted and salted range covers peanuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and snack mixes, with unsalted peanuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds too. The unroasted natural range (almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts and mixed nuts with berries) suits baking, porridge and salads.
Is Tadım halal?
Tadım lists a halal certificate among its company certificates, alongside its food safety standards (IFS Food and ISO 9001). The certificate doesn’t say which products it covers, so check the pack of each product if halal certification matters to you.
Do Tadım snacks contain nuts?
Most Tadım packs are nuts or peanuts. Even the seeds, chickpeas and roasted corn may be packed where nuts are handled, so check the allergen information on each product page and on the pack before buying for someone with an allergy.
Do you deliver Tadım nuts and seeds across the UK?
Yes. We send orders across the UK by Royal Mail or DHL. Delivery is free on orders of £70 or more to the UK mainland, or you can collect your order from our shop in Harold Hill, Romford.
